Clean Water & Sanitation
Solar-powered community boreholes for safe drinking water; clean sanitation facilities in schools and rural centres.
A child cannot learn on an empty stomach. A community cannot thrive without safe drinking water. We integrate Education, Clean Water, and Food Security into a single sustainable model for Makueni County and beyond.
Who we are
The Tom Nthiwa Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in Kenya, dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty. Rather than treating symptoms, we address root causes — building water, food, health, and education systems that hold each other up.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”— William Butler Yeats

Our Vision
To uplift vulnerable communities across Makueni County and beyond by expanding access to clean water, sustainable nutrition, healthcare infrastructure, and essential life-skills education — restoring dignity, health, and opportunity for every child, mother, and student.
Every shilling is directed toward measurable, community-owned outcomes — boreholes that keep flowing, meals that keep arriving, and girls who stay in school.
Core Pillars

Solar-powered community boreholes for safe drinking water; clean sanitation facilities in schools and rural centres.

Daily morning porridge, balanced weekday lunches, and purified water — boosting enrollment, attendance, and focus.

Reusable sanitary pads for schoolgirls and female inmates, paired with reproductive health education.
School outreach on teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, and self-worth — with mentorship that keeps girls in class.
Community clinics and dispensaries bringing essential services closer, with free screenings and preventive care.

Vocational training, agricultural micro-projects, and youth leadership for practical paths to independence.
Latest from the field

Reusable sanitary kits and reproductive health education delivered to 120 schoolgirls, keeping them in class through the school term.
